Should I Use a Playpen or Cage for My Pet's Home?

A playpen is an ideal way for pet owners to give their puppies a designated area to play and chew safely while teaching them to enjoy some personal space and free time. Crate training is essential in puppy training to help your pup become a well-adjusted adult dog. Just like humans, dogs need to be able to change positions regularly to ensure their physical health and comfort. If you must confine your pup for more than a few hours, it is best to use a playpen instead of a crate, so that your puppy can easily get up and move around.

The short answer is that your puppy should ideally become accustomed to both a crate and a playpen. A crate, an indoor house or a pen for puppies can be very useful equipment for training your pup. While many people don't like the idea of crates because they think it's wrong to put a dog in one, if you think of the crate as if it were a playground, you can better appreciate its potential use. To help control their environment, I recommend both a crate and playpen for puppies.

If done correctly, your pup will LOVE his crate and will take naps there on his own, even when he's on the loose.
